When water meets rock it flows around it, over it. It doesn't clash with the rock, it becomes one with the rock as they meet. It gets beyond the rock, and continues on its path to the ocean.
The rock will never stop the water, and over time the water will wear down the rock until it is no longer an obstacle. If the rock was flexible, if it could move with the water it would avoid erosion. But as it is unwilling to move, it will lose.
Be flexible when you meet a rock, understand it and yourself, move with it, get beyond it, and continue on your path.
Be the water, never the rock. The rock will always lose.
This is a variation of an Aikido teaching.
