Over 230 students came out to a town hall meeting to stop the fee hikes at Memorial University, and to #KeepTheFreeze. They shared their personal stories of how these increases would impact them, but also how these cuts would negatively impact the province. There was also a clear message from those in attendance that while the University Administration may be trying to pit student against student, and students against workers, the only way to be successful in the fight to restore is the be united - Canadian students and international students, undergrads with grads.
It was a very inspiring evening. To hear the messages these students were bringing forward got me more riled up than I already was. The Student Movement is very organized and strong in this province, and it will respond adequately to this latest threat to accessible education by those who are not directly affected by it - the fat cats who make decisions that will impact the rest of us.
The crowd was huge and fiery. The only way to come close to capturing all these activists is with an ultra wide lens, haha. Which is the theme this week.
