This week I listened to Serena Ryder and her sixth album "Harmony". For a long time I've known about Serena, but never took the time to listen to her music. I know she has even come to town a couple times and the general consensus is that she puts on a good show.
On the first listen of the album the big hits obviously stuck out to me. Songs like "Stompa" or "Fall" immediately jump out at you due to its radio play time. Overall, I felt the album was pretty solid. I felt vocally she carried herself very well and for the most part her songs fit her musical style. I didn't particularly like "Please Baby Please" or "For You". I can't pinpoint why, but I couldn't get into these songs at all. Outside of those two though I enjoyed the album. From an album art perspective, I really enjoyed the album design and art.
Would I buy her music? Unlikely. Would I turn in on Spotify? Likely. Would I go see her in concert? Probably. I think her collection of hits would be very enjoyable during a live performance and I have heard she puts on a great show.
