This week I decided to tackle one of the artists I was not looking forward to, Justin Bieber and his album Purpose. Purpose is Justins fourth studio album that was released in 2015. I went into this album with a biased opinion that I would not like it, because I have not enjoyed anything he has done that I have heard on the radio. Lets also make another thing clear, this is not a genre of music I enjoy. I can understand the accolades, accomplishments, the nominations, the world tours, etc... I can also understand that JB is good at what he does and is truly loved around the world. But, not my kind of music.
I only listened to the album twice, because I felt more time spent listening to the album would not sway my opinion on it. The old adage of "all songs sound the same" rings true for me with pop music, and this album is no exception. Listening to it in the car one day I just pretended Janet left on HitsFM and I was too lazy to change the radio station. My short car ride felt like forever.
When researching the album I was pleased to note that Bieber did contribute to the song writing on all the songs, but along with 30 other people. Not to mention the 27 producers it took to make this album. I get that this album is vastly popular and this is how mainstream music is made, but it is just not my thing. In the end, the album was exactly what I thought it was going to be, a pop album from a talented artist that I have zero interest in. Also, no lyrics this week because I couldn't be bothered to listen that intently to the music. I also don't understand the album artwork. Onward.
